Heating Replacement for a Family Home – A Simple Route to a Heat Pump
In a typical family-home neighbourhood in Dübendorf, we replace existing oil and gas heating systems with properly sized air-to-water heat pumps and coordinate the entire project.

The original heat pump had recurring problems with domestic hot water, pool heating and free cooling in the building. Domestic hot water was charged via an external plate heat exchanger, and its hydraulic integration was not properly designed. Pool heating used a changeover valve, while the pool heat exchangers were undersized. Simply replacing the heat pump would not have solved the underlying system issues.

We planned and implemented the new system entirely with our own team. The alpha innotec NP-BWV-43 ground-source heat pump has two separate refrigerant circuits. Domestic hot water is now produced with a coil cylinder charged by one of the two refrigerant circuits. Pool heating and free cooling in the building were also hydraulically redesigned. The system can now produce domestic hot water, heat the pool and cool the building at the same time – a major improvement over the previous Viessmann system.

Two Fröling wood-chip boilers with outputs of 150 and 60 kW supply houses and apartment buildings in Freudwil through a private district heating network. We installed the central plant, substations and complete connections for the individual heat consumers.
