At Chürzistrasse in Dübendorf, we replaced a 75 kW gas heating system with a 42 kW heat pump connected to water-filled borehole heat exchangers. The key is its integration with hybrid PVT collectors: alongside solar electricity, they provide heat and can raise the temperature in the borehole circuit to as much as 23 °C. Under these conditions, the heat pump delivers more than 55 kW of heating output. The hydraulic integration also enables free cooling in summer. Individual preferences are accommodated: one apartment is specifically excluded from free cooling during cooling operation, with the necessary data transmitted over the internet. Our own team developed the complete system concept and handled planning and installation without an external engineering consultancy.
The photovoltaic system we installed has a capacity of 25 kWp. In a second stage, we added a battery with 55 kWh of storage capacity. The building also has a vZEV arrangement, allowing electricity to be billed directly to tenants. We implemented system visualisation and battery management using Loxone. Heating, summer cooling, solar electricity and battery storage work together as a coordinated system.
In Zumikon, we replaced the existing heat pump with the appropriate NIBE successor model. The new unit had to continue providing heating, domestic hot water and cooling from a very small plinth – and we also brought the faulty wine-cooling unit back into operation.
